How to Choose a Digital Marketing Agency in Dubai: 12 Questions to Ask
By the PNext team in the UAE · Updated 18 October 2026
Dubai has hundreds of digital marketing agencies, and from their websites most of them look the same: the same services, the same promises, the same stock photos of people pointing at laptops.
The differences show up in how they answer a few direct questions. We have put together the twelve we would ask if we were hiring an agency ourselves, along with what a good answer sounds like.
Yes, we are an agency too. So use these questions on us as well.

How do I choose a digital marketing agency in Dubai?
Decide what result you need first, then shortlist agencies with relevant experience. Ask each one how it will measure success, who will run your account, what happens in the first 90 days and who owns your accounts and data. Choose the one that gives specific, honest answers, not the one with the biggest promises.
Decide what you need before you contact anyone
Agencies will shape your brief around what they sell unless you arrive with your own. Spend twenty minutes on these three points first.
The result you need
More enquiries, more online sales, a new market, or simply knowing which of your current channels works. One clear goal beats five vague ones.
Your budget, roughly
Including what you can spend on ads, not just the agency fee. It saves everyone time.
What you already have
Your website, ad accounts, analytics and any past agency work. A good agency will want to see it.
If you are not sure which channel should come first, it helps to understand the costs. We have written separate guides on SEO costs in Dubai and Google Ads costs in Dubai.
Twelve questions to ask a digital marketing agency in Dubai
How will you measure success?
Good answer: Look for enquiries, sales and cost per lead. If the answer is likes, impressions or rankings alone, keep looking.
Who will actually work on my account?
Good answer: Ask to meet them. The senior person in the sales meeting is not always the one doing the work.
What will you do in the first 90 days?
Good answer: Good agencies give specific tasks and rough dates, starting with an audit and tracking.
Can I see a recent report?
Good answer: With the client name hidden. It shows exactly what you will receive every month.
Have you worked in my industry, or one close to it?
Good answer: Not essential, but useful. Ask what they learned and what they would do differently.
Who owns the ad accounts, analytics and website access?
Good answer: You should. Everything should be in your company’s name, with the agency given access.
How do you track calls and WhatsApp enquiries?
Good answer: In the UAE many leads arrive by phone and WhatsApp. If these are not tracked, half your results are invisible.
How do you build links and content?
Good answer: You want relevant sites, real writers and experts, not bulk packages.
What is the contract length and notice period?
Good answer: Month to month or a short initial term with a clear exit is fair. Long lock-ins with no exit are not.
What is not included in the fee?
Good answer: Ad spend, content, design and tools are often extra. Get it in writing.
Can you work with our developers or website team?
Good answer: Many improvements need website changes. An agency that cannot brief developers clearly will be slow.
What would you not recommend for us?
Good answer: An honest agency will tell you which services you do not need yet. That answer says a lot.
Warning signs when choosing an agency
- Guaranteed rankings or results. No one controls Google or Meta. Guarantees usually mean easy, useless targets.
- A price before they have seen anything. That is a package, not a plan.
- They keep ownership of your accounts. If you leave, you lose years of data.
- Vague reports. Charts that go up with no link to enquiries or revenue.
- Pressure to sign today. Good agencies are happy for you to compare.
One more check we would always do: look at the agency’s own website. When we audited ours this month we found real problems, including duplicate pages and forms that had never sent an enquiry, and fixed them before writing guides like this one. An agency that cannot keep its own site in order will struggle with yours.
Ask how they handle AI search
More and more buyers in the UAE ask ChatGPT or read Google AI Overviews before they visit any website. In our own keyword data, about half of the UAE marketing searches we track already show an AI Overview at the top of Google.
So ask any agency what it does to get your business mentioned in those answers, and how it measures it. A good answer covers making your site easy for AI crawlers to read, answering buyer questions clearly, and earning mentions on the sites these tools trust. If that matters for you, look at our work as an AI SEO agency in Dubai.
Shortlist, compare and choose
Speak to three agencies, ask all of them the same twelve questions and compare the answers side by side. Price matters, but specific answers and honest advice matter more.
If you are comparing SEO agencies in particular, our page on the best SEO agency in Dubai sets out six checks in more detail. For paid search, see our Google Ads agency in Dubai page, and for Google Maps, our local SEO checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the services and the work involved. Ongoing SEO commonly costs AED 3,000 to 8,000 a month for small and medium businesses, and ad management is usually a fixed fee or a percentage of ad spend on top of the ads themselves.
If you need one channel, a specialist can be ideal. If you need several channels working together, a full-service agency avoids gaps between suppliers. Either way, ask who does the actual work.
Month to month, or a short initial term with a clear notice period, is fair. Be cautious with 12-month contracts that have no exit option.
Not necessarily, but local knowledge helps: how UAE buyers search, Arabic content, Ramadan seasonality and local directories all matter.
Your main goal, a rough budget including ad spend, and access to your website analytics and ad accounts so they can see where you are now.
Agree a few numbers at the start, such as enquiries, cost per lead or online sales, and review them every month. If they are not moving after a fair period, ask why.
